When Ved Mehta was three and a half years, he dissipated his sight due to meningitis. It was a blow for the entire family.

When siblings and friends came in with too much support, his father got a substitution from Lahore to Karnal. It took some long time for the parents to feel intimate with the new surroundings and with his darkness.

In the new house, His mother requested hakims and saints to extend appeals and apply for distinctive medicines in his eyes. His father didn’t help his wife, so, he transferred him to Dadar School for the Blind in Bombay. Ved Mehta is a writer of a number of books and is an editor as well.

She could not believe that her son was blind, as she had only seen beggars blind and did not want his son to be a beggar. She called pandits and hakims for the improving his sight. However, his father had a different plan and wanted to provide him the best medical treatment possible.
