In digestion of food in humans,there are 5 steps....

firstly,the breaking down of food takes place and it is softened by saliva..then the food goes into the stomach through the esophagus (food pipe)and then the digestive juices are mixed with food in stomach and then it goes to the small intestine which processes the food and absorbs water and then large intestine......and lastly the waste obtained is removed through anus.......

And that 5 steps are ingestion, absorption, assimilation, digestion and egestion....
