Its not the bacteria but the lactic acid produced by them erodes the enamel.

The bacteria produces lactic acid while consuming carbohydrates&sugar.

When we ate food it becomes some of the food is remained between the gaps of our teeth and bacteria acts on it and produces acid and this acid corroded the enamel and then dentine and then irritating the blood vessels.

RR7: Nice one!!
