Dhangars were a community belonging to the state of Maharashtra that belonged to the pastoral community. Some were also blanket weavers, some where shepherds and some dealt as buffalo herders.
Since, they dwelt in a semi-arid region with poor soil texture and minimum rainfall round the year, so they could only grow bajra in Rabi season. In Kharif season, they would move to the Konkani area with high rainfall to cultivate rice.
