Dear Student,

Innominate bone (Hip bone) is formed by fusion of three independent bones - ilium, ischium and pubis.

● Difference between ilium and ischium -

  • Ilium is the upper part of hip bone while ischium is lowest part of hip bone.
  • Ilium is wider bone while ischium is smaller bone.
  • Ilium is mostly flat bone while ischium is irregular bone.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...

Ilium differ from Ischium:

  • Ilium is one of the bones of the os innominatum of the pelvic girdle, just like ischium.
  • Ilium is situated above the os innominatum, and the ischium is middle bone of the same.
  • Ilium is the fan-shaped bone, forming the Superior part of the pelvic girdle, whereas the ischium forms the middle connection between the ilium and pubis.
  • Ilium gives attachments to different muscles, but ischium, in addition, gives is the ischial tuberosity on which we sit.
