The exercise of rational thought is viewed as the ultimate purpose for humankind.

  • Teaching approaches rely on awareness and fundamental skills through demonstrating and reciting. Pragmatism (Experientialism)

  • Pragmatists are based on realistic problem solving , creativity and assignments, with students frequently collaborating in groups. The course will pull together the fields and concentrate on the interdisciplinary solution of problems. The pragmatists claim that learners can adapt their information to actual circumstances through experimental study, rather than transferring structured knowledge to new students. It trains students to become people, to live everyday and to work in the future..

Existentialism

  • For Existentialists the nature of truth is subjective & lies inside the individual. There is no natural meaning of the real universe aside from human life. Instead of institutional standards, individual preference and internal expectations are important.
  • Before every description of what we are, there comes life. In relation to this life, we describe ourselves by our decisions. We will take little accountability for the judgment of who we really are, other than the pre-determined moral structure of someone else. The emphasis is on equality and the creation and sense of genuine individuals.
  • The subject of existentialist classrooms should be a matter of personal preference in relation to education. Teachers perceive the pupil as an object in a social setting where students have to challenge the opinions of others and justify their own beliefs. The formation of character demonstrates human judgment accountability. True answers come not from outside authority from within the adult.
  • Students are interested in meaningful learning opportunities through exploring life through rational thought. Existentialists are against thinking of students as measured, observed, or uniform items. These educators tend to base the student process on the development of self-direction and self-realization opportunities. They start with the student instead of the substance of the program.
