 species of rod shaped Rhizobium has a relation with several legumes as alfalfa , sweet clover , sweet pea , lentils , garden pea , broad bean , clover bean etc . 

Rhizobium multiply and colonies the surrounding of roots and get attached to epidermal and root  hairs .
the nodule contains all the necessary biochemical component , such as the enzyme nitrogenase and leghaemoglobin . The enzyme nitrogenase is a Mo-Fe protein and catalyses the conversion of atmosphere nitrogen to ammonia .
Rhizobium provide them nutrients in return plants provide them shelter and food .
