a) As we go down a group no. of electrons increases with the increase in atomic shell so atomic size increases down a group.

As we go down a group electropositivity of an element increases so metallic character also increases down a group.

b) As we go left to right electrons increases but atomic shell size remains same due which nuclear charge increases and hence atomic size decreases due to more attraction because of nuclear charge.

As we go left to right electronegativity of an electron increases due this there is decrease in metallic character as we go left to right.

hope this helps you
