HEY MATE, HERE'S IS YOUR ANSWER,

Just add alcoholic NaOH to Bromoethane - there will be elimination reaction and you will get ethene.

If you add aqueous NaOH (instead of alcoholic) you will get substitution reaction - i.e Br will be replaced by OH - so be careful here!

PS -Aqueous means solvent for NaOH is water and alcoholic means solvent is an alcohol, mostly Ethyl Alcohol or Methyl Alcohol

when we prepare ethene C2h4 then we use a prefix br at the place of H.
