How do we get pics of the Milky Way if we are inside it ?

I'd like to answer this with an analogy.
Consider a person staying in a city (preferably with a balcony). Now, when he goes out into his balcony for a moment of contemplation, he sees the city, even though he is inside it. However, he cannot see the whole city, but just in one direction, because if he turns in the other direction, he will simply see the walls of his building.

In the same way, we can consider our Earth to be the building where we stay. Every other star, nebula or planet can be compared to another building. However, this "building" we inhabit actually rotates around its axis, and even revolves around a larger "building" (the Sun). This allows us to see much more of the galaxy than the analogous building in the above paragraph.

What features of the Milky Way we see depends on our location within it. As you could glean from Wikipedia, our Solar System lies in the Orion Arm of the Galaxy. The next ring away from the center is the Perseus Arm, and we expect the center of the galaxy to be in the direction of Sagittarius.
