sound waves travel into the car canal until they reach the eardrum. the eardrum passes the vibration through the middle ear bones or ossicles into the inner ear. the inner ear is shaped like a snail and is also called the cochlea. inside the cochlea, there are thousands of tiny hair cells..

Q》How do we hear sound ? Explain .

Ans》The organs with which we hear sound are our ears. Our ears are made up of three distinct parts.

The part of ear which we see outside the head is called outer ear. It consists of a broad funnel like part called pinna and about 2 to 3 centimeters long passage called ear canal. At the end of the ear canal is a thin, elastic and circular membrane called eardrum. Tbe eardrum is also called tympanum. The sound waves are collected by the pinna of the outer ear. These sound waves pass through the ear canal and fall on the eardrum. The eardrum starts vibrating back and forth rapidly. The vibrating eardrum causes the middle ear bones to move which amplify the vibrations and send them to cochlea in the inner ear. Cochlea transforms the vibrations into nervous impulses and transmits them to the brain. As a result, we are able to hear sound.
