Given : Three figures  to calculate area of shaded portion

To Find : The way to find area of shaded portion

Solution:

1st figure :

Larger arc area = (90/360) π 8²  = 16π cm²

Semi circle area =  (180/360) π 4²  = 8 π cm²

Area of shaded portion in Semi circles = 2( (90/360) π 4² - (1/2) * 4 * 4)

= 2 (4π - 8)

= 8(π - 2)

Total Shaded area = 16π - (2 *8 π  - 8(π - 2))   +   * 8 (π - 2)

= 16 (π - 2) cm²

2nd figure

Similarly can be done for 2nd picture at it  is just opposite

Area of unshaded portion in Semi circles = 2( (90/360) π 2² - (1/2) * 2 *2)

= 2 (π - 2)

4π  -  2 (π - 2) -  2 (π - 2)

= 8 cm²

3rd figure M & N position not defined

However  Area of ABCD  - Area of BMN  - Area of ADC  = Shaded portion
