Line of a marching band:
The bending of light that occurs in a prism is due to refraction. The light bends because the two surfaces through which the light is passing are not parallel.
Therefore, the line of marching band should not be parallel to the turning point this way they can make the turn without stepping out of the marching line.
They will just deviate from the path just like how the refracted ray doesn't follow the same path as the incident ray through the prism.
