Order of acidity of alcohols:
•Primary alcohols > Secondary alcohols >> Tertiary alcohols
•Alcohols show the acidic nature due to the polar nature of O-H bond.
•Also, an electron releasing group increases the electron density on oxygen tending to decrease the polarity of O-H bond.
•This decreases the acidic strength.
Hence tertiary alcohols are least acidic.
# Alcohols act as Bronsted bases as well. It is due to the presence of unshared electron pairs on oxygen, which makes them proton acceptors.
