Electric Fuse is a device which is placed in series to limit the current in an electric circuit so that it easily melts due to overheating when excessive current passes through it.

A electric fuse works on the principle of heating effect of current

a fuse wire is of material with very low melting point usually an alloy of 75% of lead and 25% of tin with melting point 200 degree celsius.
