Fertilization in Cockroach-
- Internal fertilization occurs in cockroach.
- Soluble milky protein is secreted by the left collaterial gland.
- On the other side right collaterial gland secretes dihydroxyphenol.
- When soluble milky protein and dihydroxyphenol gets mixed it forms brownish scleroprotein.
- Ootheca is the common egg case formed by sclero protein. Generally ootheca is reddish to blackish brown capsule which is about of 8 mm in length
- Ootheca is then stored at dry place in the female.
Development System-
- 9-10 ootheca can be formed from one female.
- There will be 14-16 fertilized eggs in the each ootheca.
- Egg develops inside the ootheca.
- It takes generally 4-8 weeks in full development.
