How does friction arise between two surfaces

When two surfaces slide over each other, there is a kind of interlocking pattern formed which prevents the surface from moving. Friction arises whenever one body moves or tries to move, over another.

It’s because the molecular composition at the surfaces of each object are not perfectly flat, and tend to produce noise when rubbed together andit arises due to intermolecular attractive forces
