Keats in his poem 'On the Grasshopper and the Cricket' uses facts to show how the poetry of the earth never ceases.

The poet says that in summers the temperatures are extremely high, and even the birds (that are responsible for singing) are 'faint with the hot sun'. The only voice that one can hear is that of the grasshopper. He 'takes the lead' and keeps the music of nature or the poetry of the earth alive.

When the season changes to winters, and the grasshopper takes shelter from the cold and is not an active singer. At this time, it is the cricket that bursts in a 'shrill' song.

So, the grasshopper sings during the summers, while the cricket takes care of the earth's poetry during the colder months. Together they make sure that the poetry of the earth does not stop.
