D. H. Lawrence says in ‘Why Novel Matters’, that a novelist is better than a scientist or philosopher, as he is able to explain a whole man, alive. He explains that a novelist has complete, and better understanding of a man, alive, than a scientist or a philosopher. Novels, provide guidance of man, alive and as a whole. Hence, he says novels are superior, over other forms of literature.
