Nutrition in amoeba is called phagocytosis. They engulf the food particle with help of false feet called pseudopodia which is a finger like project. Digestion is intracellular. And finally food vacuole is formed

Heya !!!

Following are the steps involved in the nutrition in Amoeba : -

» Ingestion : amoeba ingests food along with a little amount of the surrounding water. It does this using it's pseudopodia and forms a food vacoule.

» Digestion : The food in the food vacoule is digested by the digestive enzymes that enter from the cytoplasm.

» absorption : The digested food is directly absorbed in the cytoplasm of the amoeba cell by Diffusion.

» Assimilation : some part of the digested food is used for acquiring energy for various life processes. this is done through respiration.

» Egestion : The undigested food is thrown out of the body through the cell membrane..

An Amoeba has a hologic mode of nutrition.
