While counting the number of significant figures, following points are noted:-
(i) All the zeroes in between the numerals from 1 to 9 are counted. For example, a measurement 5.2 m has three significant figures 5,0 and 2.
(ii) In a measurement involving decimal, the position of decimal is disregarded.
(iii) All the zeroes after the last numeral are counted.
(iv) The zeroes preceding the first numeral are ignored.
