when the sun is no more up in the sky or it is not raised yet you see light.
This light is of a different color maybe more red, this is because of the refraction of the rays in the atmosphere that let the light cover a bigger area then just the half of the earth facing the sun.

I hope its help for u

This whole process is based on refraction of light through atmosphere .

When sun is at horizon level to earth , the sunrays refract and comes to our eyes , therefore we see apparent position of sun . this whole process takes 2mins . same when it comes to delay sun set
