It is absolutely true brain is always winner as compared to brawns (muscles). Even in our body brain controls muscles. Muscles without brain can’t function on their own.
In the story The Midnight Visitor, we see Ausable using his brain to outsmart the muscular power of Max.
When Max tries to prise some secret information from Ausable, the latter handles it calmly; he makes such a clever plan of the ordinary happenings that Max gets trapped in them. He makes Max believe that knocking on the door is by the police; he also makes him believe that the window opens to a safe balcony where Max could hide. As Max tries to go into the balcony, Max falls to the ground as there was no balcony.
This shows Ausable overpowered his adversary using his brain.
