Rhizopus species grow as filamentous, branching hyphae that generally lack cross-walls (i.e., they are coenocytic). Theyreproduce by forming asexual and sexual spores. In asexualreproduction, sporangiospores are produced inside a spherical structure, the sporangium. An organism is benefitted if it reproduces through spores as the organisms produced by spore formation can survive both in favourable as well as non-favourable conditions.
