The human eye is mainly one of the most valuable as well as the most sensitive of all the organs which enables us (humans) to see and view the wonders of nature and/or the wonderful and creative things around us.

The human eye basically works like a camera. Its lens system forms an image on a light sensitive screen called as the retina. Light just enters the eye through a (very) thin membrane known as the cornea. Iris, a dark muscular diaphragm that control the size of the pupil, is founded behind the cornea. The pupil basically regulates and controls the amount of light that enters the eye. The eye lens then forms an inverted real image of the object on the retina.

The light sensitive cells get activated upon illumination and then generate some electrical signals. These signals are finally sent to the brain via the optic nerves. At last, the brain just interprets these signals and then processes the information so that we perceive the objects as they are.

=> The cornea forms the transparent bulge on the front of the eyeball.

=> The eyeball is approx. spherical in shape with a diameter of about almost 2.3 cm.

=> Most of the refraction for the light rays entering the eye mailny occurs at the outer surface of the cornea.

=> The crystalline lens merely provides a finer adjustment of focal length which is required to focus objects at different types of distances on the retina.
