The mirror describes itself as silver, exact, having no preconceptions, unmisted by love or dislike, not cruel, truthful, and four-cornered like the eye of a little god which looks at everybody without any discrimination. The irony about its self-description is it says it is unmisted by love or dislike. But yet it appears to be in love with the pink wall with speckles which has become part of his heart!

She reacts to her reflection in the mirror with tears and agitation of hands. This expression means, she was not happy at her true reflection of wrinkles and old age signs as reflected truly by the mirror. She is not happy with her approaching old age.
