Detergents helps to clean soiled clothes due to it's hydrophobic Nature.
Detergents :- Detergents is the type of surfactants which reduce the surface tension of water having long chain of potassium and sodium fatty acids.
Reason/Explanation :-
Detergents has two natures one is hydrophobic other is hydrophilic . So the hydrophobic property of detergents reacts with dirt and reduce the surface tension of water
The property of water known as surface tension leads the water molecules to attached with each others.
Tension cause water to bead up to the surface. It allow the water to slower down the cleaning process.
When we add detergents into soiled clothes and water the Surface Tension of water must be reduced so that it cleans the surface easily.
Detergent (Surfactant) emulsify water and remove acidic dirt's, soils etc.
Hope it Helps :-)
