How does valency vary in a group on going from top to bottom?

valency remains the same as the no. of valence electrons are same only no. of shells increases in group.

Valency does not change as we go down a group. Valency of all elements in a group remains the same. As we go down the group each element will have an extra shell and hence atomic size increases down the group.
