When it is added to the solvent like water,lowering of vapour pressure of water takes place. Salt is electrolyte,hence it dissociates in water producing ions. Magnitude of any colligative property depends upon number of ions present in the solution. As vapour pressure decreases,boiling point of solution is elevated.
