how ice could be able to float on water if solid is denser than a liquid???

Water reaches its maximum density at 4 C (40 F). ... On the other hand, most substances are mostdense in their solid (frozen) state than in their liquidstate. Water is different because of hydrogen bonding.

ice is not a solid. it is not able to float on water because it has spaces in it... and liquid is denser than ice.. that's why Ice floats on water
