acetone is obtained from grignard reagent by using acetaldehyde.

for example:

1st step:

CH3_CO_H + CH3_Mg_Br → CH3_CHCH3_O_Mg_Br (in the presence of polar solvent)

2nd step:

CH3_CHCH3_O_Mg_Br → CH3_CHOH_CH3 + HO_Mg_Br (in the presence of H+ / OH-)

3RD STEP:

CH3_CHOH_CH3 + [O] → CH3_CO_CH3 + H2O (IN THE PRESENCE OF Cu)

But this process is very expensive and unreliable. therefore it is not used to produce acetone which makes waste of time metarial and money.

HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND AND IT HELP YOU.

PLZ MARK AS BRAINLIEST if you think i deserve it.

THANKS:)
