archaeological sources means a study of of the remains of the past where as literary source are divided in two groups - religious and secular
archaeological sources are of three kinds
inscription, monuments,other like coins, weapons and other artefacts
( those who study the remains of the past are known as archaeologists)
Literary sources
religious literature
writings which deal with religion are religious literature.the four Vedas the two great epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata ,the Upanishads are rich source of information on Hindu religion and Aryan society
secular literature
literature that is not religious is called secular.Poems ,plays accounts of foreign travellers and works in the field of politics and science are included in this. for example , Kalidasa's plays meghadoot and Abhigyan Shakultalam give information about Gupta period as well as acquaint the readers with the flora and fauna of that time
