The molecular formula for Calcium hydroxide is Ca(OH)2

Now, according to the Arrhenius theory, bases are substances which give Oh- ions in aqeous solutions ,and since Calcium hydroxide has these hydroxyl ions to give in aqeous solution, it is considered as a base.

Also, according to Bronsted and Lowry theory bases are the substances which accept H+ ions or to be precise they accept protons.

Which Calcium hydroxide does show in chemical reaction and hence it js also a base according to the Bronsted and Lowry theory of acids and bases.
