food security of india is insured if all of its citizens have enough nutritious food available all person have the capacity to buy food to acceptable quality and there no barrier in access food.

India has become self sufficient in foodgrains during the last 30 years because a variety of crops grown all over the country. The availability of foodgrains at the country level is increased. It was done with a carefully designed food security system of the government.

The system consists of two components :

• Buffer Stock

• Public Distribution System.
