QUESTION❓

How is increas the population?

ANSWER :

India and China are one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Home for the oldest culture, languages, and religions.

How did this happen?

Early civilizations started dwelling from Africa in search for a better life which was the availability of enough food and water.

Indus valley and regions of China had huge rivers . This was enough for the early humans. Then the civilizations started flourishing. India and China have had the most fertile land for irrigation. This made the people settle at in these fertile lands with all resources for survival instead of being a nomadic tribe.

India and China‘s population never exploded. The fact is that the population of these two countries were always high from the early beginning of the civilizations. So there is no one factor to blame it.

With the help of human advancements, life expectancy had risen and the population started to increase after the 1900’s.

No country can control the population growth; When China imposed ‘One or none’ child policy it did help reduce the population growth, but the in the later years the country suffered lack of youth and young population.

So, there is no problem with a huge population but, providing better standards of living and education should be the solution.

At the time of Independence, we had just 330 million people. Our first prime minister, in his wisdom, decided that a huge population will become India’s strength. He ignored the fervent plea from JRD Tata to implement family planning.

At the time of independence, India had a birth rate of 4.5% and a death rate of 4.5% so the population remained stable. The average life expectancy was 31 years.

After 50 years, due to improved healthcare, the death rate came down to just 0.8% while birth rate was still high at 2.7% which meant our population was growing at the rate of nearly 2% per annum or by over a hundred million each year. Meanwhile, the average life expectancy rose to 64 years.

During the emergency, Sanjay Gandhi carried out forced sterilizations which lead to a backlash against population control measures. After the emergency, investment in population control suffered. Even the term “family planning” was changed to “family welfare.”

We will overtake China in 2022 to become the world’s most populous nation and we will continue to grow to an estimated 1.7 billion before we achieve the zero growth rate.

When we achieve a negative growth rate, soon after peaking, the population will hopefully start coming down.
