Mathematics has many fathers (and mothers). But if I had to pick one historical person as being the most influential in getting rigorous, proof-based mathematics up and going, it might be the Greek geometer Euclid.
Though, one could also make good cases for Archimedes of Syracuse, Leonard Euler, Isaac Newton, and many others, as being “The Father Of Mathematics”. Which human in all of history did more to further the science of mathematics? It’s really a question with no definitive answer.
In the end, I think the best answer is, “lots of folks”.
