for
3d-->
n =(shell) =3
l =(sub shell) =2 = n-1
m(orbitals)= -2 , -1, 0 , +1, +2 = -l to +l including 0
_______________________________
so a total of 5 ORBITALS
each orbital has electrons of spin +1/2 and -1/2 are possible..
so... we will have a total of 5electrons with spin +1/2 and a total of 5electrons with spin -1/2
_______________________________
so...
number of 3d electrons that can have spin quantum no. -1/2 is 5
