How many possible ways are there to form 5 disulfide bonds within a protein that contains 10 cysteine residues?

be combined. The can make an amide, a thio ester, a disulfide, and and acid anhydride. So, if you only had two cysteines, there would be five ways, 1) no connection, 2) an amide, 3) thioester, 4) disulfide, 5) acid anhydride. Pretty simple with only two cysteines.
