How many times do the volume and surface area of a cube increase if its edges get tripled??

(i) Volume:

Volume of cube = l³.

When the edge is tripled, then.

volume of cube(V') = (3l)³

                               = 27l³

                               = 27 * V.

Hence, the volume will increase 27 times.


(ii) Surface area of cube:

Surface area of cube(A) = 6l²

When the edge is tripled, then

Surface area of cube(A') = 6(3l)²

                                         = 6 * 9l²

                                         = 9 * 6l²

                                         = 9 * A

Hence, the surface area will increase 9 times.
