Private well water should be tested a minimum of once per year. Drinking water supplies obtained from shallow wells and surface water sources should be tested more frequently (i.e. seasonally), as they are more susceptible to contamination. It is important to test your drinking water at the tap and at the source.

It must run at least 10 minutes  before taking sample for water testing

Explanation:

• Water testing is done to test the purity of water and to check the standard conditions of water

• If it is collected from tanks then it must be cleaned but if it is collected from tube wells the pipe must be made to run 10 minutes and then the sample must be collected

• Then the collected sample must be sent to the testing lab within 24 hours but not less than 60 hours

• In regions which are prone to diseases the water samples are collected and they are sent to lab for testing purpose for the source of spread of disease.
