This is what the British did to India, you can see the decline from mid 1700s (1757 onwards).
See how India's GDP as a percentage of world's GDP, declined rapidly as a result of the colonization.

But, having said that, I will add that you can't blame the Britishers, they did what was advantageous for them. We are to blame ourselves, Indians were not united, many became traitors and deceived the India rulers, Tipu Sultan, Siraj-u-daula, and Rani Lakshmi Bai lost because of such traitors.

The Britishers were wrong on moral grounds other than that they did what ever they felt was good for Britain. Also we can't forget the cruelty we witnessed in those 200 years.Jaliawala Bag was probably the worst/most condemnable massacre of all times.

I wish to add that some people estimate it at around 240-300 Trillion Pounds,
but it was not just this, the Britishers also plundered lots of priceless artifacts, diamonds and relics. Kohinoor is one such well known one.
No one can estimate the actual value of those, and as they are not considered under the GDP, they can't be a part of the above given chart. So the actual value could be in Thousands of Trillions of Pounds.

India and China both had more Jewels and Artifacts than another country in the world, owing to the rich civilizations in these Asia countries for centuries before British came. And thus unfortunately these two countries lost the most to the British, than any other.
Sad but true!
