ANSWER :

Old ponds can be used for  fish rearing  by using crop residues and waste of farm animals, pigs and poultry. The quantity of these should be depend on the quantity of plankton in the pond.  

Keep the water level in pond at 5-6 feet to check weed growth in old ponds.Always put fertilizer in the pond 15 days before putting fingerlings (seed fish). In new and old ponds, keep water level at 5-6 feet  throughout the year.
