Representative democracy is a kind of democracy organized on the system of elected leaders represent-ing a group of people. Whereas, direct democracy is a form of Government where all the decision-making tasks are performed by the people directly and not by their chosen representatives. People in this type of government decide the policy initiatives directly. The first and most prominent example of Direct or Pure Democracy comes from the ancient Greek City- state and particularly from Ancient Athens.

The most important reason why direct democracy is not possible these days is that direct democracy can only work in a small population of a city-state, and nowadays, the population is growing at a very high speed and thus this method of democracy cannot be employed.
