smoooth surfaces often reflect sound as sound waves follow laws of reflection .In an auditorium the walls are furnished so as to make them rough. this roughness of walls reduce the reflection of sound waves and hence reverbrtion is reduced

Reverberation is reduced in an auditorium order in a big hall in the following way -

• The reverberation occurs when the sound waves are reflected by various surfaces.

• Now,if we use sound absorbing materials on those surfaces then the incoming sound will be absorbed by the surface before the reflection.

• Same principle is used in the auditoriums also, the walls of the auditorium are covered with sound absorbing materials which absorbs most of the sounds and reduces the chances of reverberation.
