• The United Front which was similar to National Front was supported by the Left and Congress Party.

• This party was a coalition party and ruled for about 2 years that is from 1996-1997 and 1997-1998.

• During these years, internal disputes or religious issues were not agitated as India was facing a crisis on border issues with Pakistan.

• The leader of this party was H.D Deve Gowda during 1996-1997 and the leader of this party during 1997-1998  was I.K Gujral.

• Further elections BJP took to power as a coalition government.
