cell membrane is the semi permeable membrane where only selected particles will be sent in.

Explanation:

small proteins, small digested food particles,ions,etc can only be sent in but large molecules cannot be sent in.likewise pathogens also cannot be sent in.....as in case of bacteria in where virus can send it's nucleic acid into the bacterial body... is possible bcoz it sends by a process called injection.
