Hey friend,

A very simple answer to your question:-

If you want to check whether a number is prime or not, you should write down all the factors of the number. If it has only 2 factors i.e, 1 and the number itself, then it is a prime number.

Eg.
Factors of 13- 1, 13
So 13 is a prime number.

Factors of 12- 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12.
So 12 is not a prime number.

Hope this helps you... : )

mahima103: we can use the sieve of erotosthenes also
Shimpy: to check that the number is prime or not its very simple , prime number is that which can't be divisible by any other number without itself or 1 like 2,3,5,7,11,13..and ao on
mahima103: there are many methods but i prefer the sieve of erotosthenes
TisyaAhuja: Thank you!
Swatishka: Your most welcome!!

A number is greater than 1 is called a prime number, if it has only two factors, namely 1 and the number itself. Step 1: Find a whole number nearly greater than the square root of A. K ¿ square root(A) Step 2: Test whether A is divisible by any prime numberless than K. If yes A is not a prime numbe
