write the electronic configuration of that element which you want find the valecy and note it's number of electrons in outer most shell ...this number indicates the valecy...

example for sodium(Na)

electronic configuration :- 2,8,1

so 1 is the valecy of sodium

it is very easy to find valency for example we find a valency of Oxygen (o2)
the atomic nö. of O is 8 electron (E) in its Atom. the electronic confurigation of oxygen Atom will be k/2, L/6. thus, the O atom has 6 E in its outermost E can give 2 E from some other atom to achieve inert gas E confurigation of 6+2=8 outermost E. Since one atom of o can gain 2E to achieve the inert gas E confurigation, therfore the VALENCY of O is 2.

Nishakankarwal: say thanks plzz and give response
madhunisha: The number of elements in the outermost shell of an atom is known as the valency.
Nishakankarwal: but he /she asked how we find valency
mythreya: thank you
