how to identify the group and period if atomic number of wlment is given. Do we have to memorize the whole periodic table in order to give the names of elments. if not then how will it be done?

Heya !
• We need not to learn whole periodic table If we Know Electronic configuration of Cell.
That is to fill K , L , M ....Cells.
• With K , L ,M ...Cell Configuration we can only find the Period and group of an element within 20 atomic number.
For Example :-
Let take an element Calcium atomic number 20
It's electronic Configuration will be :-
K , L , M , N
2 , 8 , 8 , 2
Here the 2 ( last valence electron ) Shows the group number.
And the Number of Cells filled Shows ( K , L , M , N ) Period ...
Here 4 Cells are filled So The element Calcium will be in 4th period and in 2nd group
• For the elements from 21 to 118 ( including 1 to 20 ) :-
° By spdf electronic Configuration we can find the group and period of an element.
For Example :-
Taking the same element Calcium
It's spdf electronic Configuration will be :-
( Ca 20 ) :- 1s² 2s² 2p^6 3s² 3p^6 4s²
By spdf electronic Configuration we can find Not only period and group of an element but we can find in which block is that element.
4s² :- Here ,
4 is Period of element
Power 2 is Group of element
And s is Block ...
So , by this we can find the group and period number of an element.
