If a quantity have a magnitude only ( such as 3 kg here 3 is magnitude or to say 3 is its measurement)..and does NOT depends on directions then it is SCALAR quantity( direction here means u will not say to give 3kg sugar NORTH to a shopkeeper).such as mass..distance etc.

But is quantity depends on both magnitude and direction then it is a VECTOR quantity..such a velocity and displacement

sagar123aditya: what is distance
amaybhatnagar13: distance is length of path u traveled.
amaybhatnagar13: such as 3km 4km 3cm etc.
sagar123aditya: why weight is vector
prt19: weight is force it has magnitude and direction both
prt19: weight is 2kg may be54kg
sagar123aditya: and why momentum is vector
amaybhatnagar13: momentum of body is givin by (mass X velocity) here mass is scalar and velocity is vetor and a scalar multiplied by vector give a vector
